Colloidal Silver

What it is, how it works, and its properties

What is it?

Colloidal silver is a suspension of silver nanoparticles—smaller than 100 nm—in a liquid.

How does it work?

It’s described as having broad antiseptic, antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral effects at the cellular level. The particles can attach to microbial cell walls and disrupt their membranes, allowing active silver ions to enter, damage, and destroy the cells from within. These biologically active ions are responsible for the so-called oligodynamic effect of nanosilver—meaning that even very small amounts can have the desired action.

Uses

Colloidal silver has been used for wound care, burns, and certain skin conditions. Because it helps combat bacteria, viruses, fungi, and mold, it can also be used to clean and disinfect external surfaces. It removes dirt and unpleasant odors, eliminating up to 99% of hundreds of types of microbes and allergens. It’s suitable for laundry and general household cleaning.
